I came across the #ChooseToChallenge campaign by Hashnode. It reminded me of a movie I recently saw "Little Women". A line from this movie goes like this.
Women, they have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts. And they’ve got ambition, and they’ve got talent, as well as just beauty. I’m so sick of people saying that love is just all a women is fit for.
- Jo March, Little Women (2019), Great Gerwig
It resonates with what I think. Traditionally, it's important for a woman to get settled as soon as possible. It's never too early and 25 is too late. It's ok for women to not have a house, a career, job, status or even money of her own. But, it's essential for a woman to have a man of her own. It's believed that having someone by her side for the rest of her life will make all the other factors possible. But, shouldn't she have a say in when does she want to exercise her choice of partnership rather than constantly being nagged that 'It'll be too late if you don't do it now / You won't find the right guy later on / You have friends right now, but it'll be lonely after your friends get married'? I #chooseToChallenge the stereotype. The choice of today, may give superlative results or result in ultimate failure tomorrow. But, the power of choice TODAY is what matters. We aren't just meant for brooding or breeding, we are meant for other great things in life as well. We are the beauty, and can also be the beast!!! :)
